GIVEAWAY! WIN Lily Adile Lamb’s new book-The Nameless One

I’m super excited to welcome my friend Lily Adile Lamb who’s here to promote her newest masterpiece. You’ll find the rules for how to win her e-book, The Nameless One, at the end of this post. Happy reading!!

One day, I was on Facebook and saw a photo of a creature who with its wings, resembled a bat, albeit with a human face. I was drawn to its beauty with the figure looking utterly lonely in a cave far away from civilization. I literally felt hurt from what I saw. I imagined how many of us feel utterly alone in crowds and I felt very sad. I instantly visualized him as a male-being longing for his loved one. The next day, I was on Pinterest looking at photos of beautiful places in the world. There was this photo of an amazing mountain under the stars… voila! I suddenly envisioned the character in both my head and my heart, along with the mountain he would call his home. I then instantly knew who would be his other half.

As I wrote this story, I imagined the scenes in my head and tried to write them down. At some stage, I was crying at what my characters were going through. I was caught up in their tale, all I could hope for was to finish their part for all of us. It had a universal message about unconditional love, acceptance and our human frailties.

The day, I released my story; I was up until the early hours of the day, anxious and excited.

The Nameless One

Blurb:

lily_namelessone_finalHe was the only nameless one among his kind, the result of his mother’s forbidden affair with a human. He was the only one the others teased and tormented, the only one who longed for his own sex – a crime among his kind. And when he repeated his mother’s mistake with a human male, the punishment was terrible – his wings were broken, his body was crushed, and he was imprisoned in a bottle, freed only to grant the wishes of whichever greedy human found him next. And there he stayed, alone.

Faine was born different, too, his legs withered at birth, his little body left at the edge of the woods for the other abandoned ones to take in. Sylvonna the wise woman raised him in kindness, and the sheep he tended were patient with his slow, painful gait. It was a good life…only he longed for a lover of his own sex, and while there was no shame in it among his people, there were none among them who shared that longing. And so he was alone.

The forest whispered to Faine, that he would find love…that his true love was coming soon.

And when the nameless one was at last freed from his prison, his release would come on a mountain, near a forest…a forest where the world’s other outcasts dwelt. A mountain where Faine would bring his sheep to graze…

“The Nameless One” is a fable, a fairy tale, a love story about two broken creatures who are made whole at last.

Fabulous Five blog hop

I’ve been invited to answer these questions by Debbie McGowan, author of contemporary fiction. Her current titles include the series Hiding Behind The Couch, Champagne and Checking Him Out. Further info and download links can be found on her website:  http://www.debbiemcgowan.co.uk.

I love Debbie’s works. She’s one of my favorite authors. If you have time, please check out her works. She’s awesome.

What am I working on?

As usual, my head is all over the place, so I’m working on various projects. The project I’m most attached to these days is a friends to lovers story with an age gap between Mcs.

Terrance was Chase’s hero back in childhood, a worship that soon turned to infatuation from his part. But Terrance never saw Chase as more than a cute kid. Wanting to escape from his small-minded town and hoping to get over his childhood crush, Chase jumps to the opportunity to go to university in L.A. where he becomes a famous nature photographer. He thinks his feelings for Terrance are gone, but when his relatives abruptly die in a car crash, Chase is forced to come back home and see Terrance again. All the emotions he tried to suppress, along with the fears and insecurities he felt as a teenager come crushing back.

The story is yet to have a title, but I’m almost done with it, so the title will surely come to me. I’m very curious how the readers will react to the age gap between Terrance and Chase and if they’ll find their reactions realistic enough or too dramatic.

How does my work differ from others in its genre?

This is a tough one. Honestly I’m not even trying  to make my books different and I don’t really get why they should be. I write M/M and you can find plenty of other books similar to mine in this genre. I don’t think this is a flaw though. Readers who choose M/M lean towards this genre for a reason and, obviously, they look for certain “ingredients”. I, like many other authors, try to offer this ingredients in a nicely wrapped package. we are all different, as individuals. It’s a given our books will be different too. But, thank God, there are plenty of books to choose from and there will always be readers there to support us.

Why do I write what I do?

I love M/M for various reasons. It’s sexy, original, fun and so much more engaging than hetero romance. But, most of all, I like writing M/M romance because I believe love is beautiful and people shouldn’t judge others. I truly hope one day people will stop discriminating against gays. Already, there are many positive changes in the world and I believe M/M romance is a huge help. It’s opening people’s minds. I am proud to take part in this, even in such a small measure.

How does my writing process work?

I am a procrastinator and I get easily bored. Because of that, I always need to have more than one current project. I like juggling between stories and daydreaming about characters, but I hate plotting. I find it a waste of time and I rarely outline stories. At the most, I write a phrase or two about my main ideas and plot points, but the rest is up to my imagination.

I enjoy writing a little every day. Half an hour is enough to get me going, and, usually when I start, I don’t stop until I finish a scene or a chapter.

I hate editing though and I always procrastinate when it’s time to correct the first draft. First, I concentrate on grammar and typos. Then I leave the draft for at least a week and read it again after. I correct more typos. At this point I try to brainstorm what scenes should be cut and if the characters react properly to certain scenes. I usually consult with my betas about it.

Then, I revise accordingly. Leave the draft one more week at least. Correct more typos. Done!

Who’s next?

Unfortunately, I can’t tag five authors, but I hope you guys enjoy Jesse Frankel’s Fabulous Five blog hop answers. He’s an exceptional YA writer whom I truly admire.

Way to Your Heart Blog Hop

Hello, everyone! I’m very excited ’cause this is my first blog hop ever. It’s all thanks to Less Than Three Press celebrating their fourth anniversary. Less Than Three will be publishing my first novella this summer  – another first for me – and I’m already enjoying working with them very much. It’s a warm, welcoming family, with very professional people dedicated to help writers out. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to work with them. I hope not to disappoint (crossing fingers) XD. Happy Birthday, LT3!

The theme of this hop is “way to your heart”. That means I’m supposed to talk about something I love very, very much, aside from writing.
I pondered a lot over what to write about, since I have a lot of things I love.
Coffee would have to be on the top of my list. I’m absolutely addicted to it.
I also love police shows and j-doramas, j-rock and k-pop, fashion (Andrej Pejic’s and G-Dragon’s styles in particular), crochet and crafts in general, Dr. Who, Castle. Anime. Manga (shoujo, shounen-ai and yaoi, but sometimes shounen too), my favorite one being Skip Beat.
I love baking and I’m a huge fan of the whole Bio trend. So much so that I make my own face creams, hand creams, bread, you name it. Usually, I like to challenge myself.
And manicure. In fact, I did my nails especially for this post. I don’t know if you can see, that’s a heart in a heart – it’s a purplish pink like the orchid, but the lighting was bad 😛

But there’s something else I like more than all of the above, sometimes even more than writing (*gasp* pretend you never read that). And that is art. The thing that eats up most of my time when I’m supposed to write or study or work, besides reading other people’s blogs, is browsing through deviantart, tumblr and pinterest in search of new paintings to admire. I’m a fan of digital paintings and watercolors, in particular. I love that misty effect watercolors have. it’s pretty much why I chose my pen name. Mist is really cool, especially in paintings. It gives that melancholic feel, arouses the imagination.
One of my favorite relaxation methods before bedtime is painting with watercolors or drawing with my favorite music playing in the background and  a nice cup of warm tea put aside. Sometimes accidents happen. One time I almost stuck my brush in the tea, one other time I used my favorite brush with the masking liquid and completely ruined it (I almost cried my eyes out) and ,more often then not, I spill water where I’m not supposed to. Well, it’s part of the creative process and I’m the one who cleans it all up anyway. No harm done 😛
I have no art studies though (which is something I regret very much), so I just follow my instincts. Here’s some of the things I’ve painted/drawn. I hope to improve in the future. Thank God for Youtube and all the nice painters posting tutorials for newbies like me. BTW, I seem to be obsessed with trees. Lately I doodle them everywhere, even when I talk on the phone or when I’m at work. Something’s up with me. Hope that’s not a bad sign, psychologically speaking O_O

I was too lazy to take photos of my agendas and random papers filled with trees. Wish you could see them. They’re everywhere!

           that’s my finger ↑

<=== Awkward leaf

                                        Irises are my favorite flowers

Would love to hear if any of you have the same hobby as me.
Here are some links to a bunch of awesome artists that I follow.

Too lazy to search, but there are also heise, feimo and ElephantWendingo, who draw some really hot men. Like really hot! And there’s also Genzoman and Artgerm who draw some amazing comic style women.
Anyway, I better stop before I end up spamming my own blog post LOL
You got the drift. I love art.
Honestly, my favorite artists are way too many to count, but you can check out my Pinterest “gorgeous art” folder if you’re curious (link is in the upper corner of the sidebar).

As part of this hop, I’d like to give away something nice. I have no books out yet, with the exception of my free story, Jayded Sunrise, which is part of the Love is Always Write anthology – volume five. *kukukuh* A little self-promo never hurt anyone, right?
However, I will give a 10 $ gift certificate from Less Than Three Press to one lucky winner, so they can celebrate together with us by reading the LT3 releases of their choice 🙂

To win it, please leave a comment below with your e-mail address and tell me who are your favorite artists (I can’t imagine anyone not having at least one favorite artist). By artist, in this case, I mean painter, photographer or drawing artist. If you have  a link to their portfolio it would be great (not necessary, but I’m an avid link hoarder, as you can see).
Winner will be chosen through random.org and I’ll announce who they are after April 14th. Thanks, peeps. Lots of hugs and kisses to you all!

PS  I almost forgot ( you’ve probably noticed that I’m an airhead so that happens a lot). Follow this link to see the other hop participants, though I’m pretty sure that’s how you find mine. In any case, follow it or I’ll (virtually) spank you!

EDIT : I’m extending the contest for a few more days due to my issues with the new ID. You have time until the 17th to comment. The winner will be chosen through random.org on the 18th at 2 pm GMT+3 time http://www.wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/

They’ll have 48 hours to reply my e-mail. If they don’t, I’ll choose someone else through random.org

My first blog hop

My first blog hop is coming soon. Less Than Three Press is turning four.
I’m so, but nervous and a bit worried, all at the same time. I feel like I shouldn’t really join since I haven’t published any books with them yet so I have no fan base and I kinda feel like an intruder you know, like how a straight girl feels when entering a gay bar? (OMG I ramble so much when I’m stressed out) Sadly, there are no gay bars in my town, but I can easily imagine the feeling.
Anyway, if I have enough comments (more than 10) on my post, I might just find something interesting to give away 😛 So, I’m anxiously waiting for your comments XD Please keep an eye on this blog. Pretty please!
