GIVEAWAY! WIN Lily Adile Lamb’s new book-The Nameless One

I’m super excited to welcome my friend Lily Adile Lamb who’s here to promote her newest masterpiece. You’ll find the rules for how to win her e-book, The Nameless One, at the end of this post. Happy reading!!

One day, I was on Facebook and saw a photo of a creature who with its wings, resembled a bat, albeit with a human face. I was drawn to its beauty with the figure looking utterly lonely in a cave far away from civilization. I literally felt hurt from what I saw. I imagined how many of us feel utterly alone in crowds and I felt very sad. I instantly visualized him as a male-being longing for his loved one. The next day, I was on Pinterest looking at photos of beautiful places in the world. There was this photo of an amazing mountain under the stars… voila! I suddenly envisioned the character in both my head and my heart, along with the mountain he would call his home. I then instantly knew who would be his other half.

As I wrote this story, I imagined the scenes in my head and tried to write them down. At some stage, I was crying at what my characters were going through. I was caught up in their tale, all I could hope for was to finish their part for all of us. It had a universal message about unconditional love, acceptance and our human frailties.

The day, I released my story; I was up until the early hours of the day, anxious and excited.

The Nameless One

Blurb:

lily_namelessone_finalHe was the only nameless one among his kind, the result of his mother’s forbidden affair with a human. He was the only one the others teased and tormented, the only one who longed for his own sex – a crime among his kind. And when he repeated his mother’s mistake with a human male, the punishment was terrible – his wings were broken, his body was crushed, and he was imprisoned in a bottle, freed only to grant the wishes of whichever greedy human found him next. And there he stayed, alone.

Faine was born different, too, his legs withered at birth, his little body left at the edge of the woods for the other abandoned ones to take in. Sylvonna the wise woman raised him in kindness, and the sheep he tended were patient with his slow, painful gait. It was a good life…only he longed for a lover of his own sex, and while there was no shame in it among his people, there were none among them who shared that longing. And so he was alone.

The forest whispered to Faine, that he would find love…that his true love was coming soon.

And when the nameless one was at last freed from his prison, his release would come on a mountain, near a forest…a forest where the world’s other outcasts dwelt. A mountain where Faine would bring his sheep to graze…

“The Nameless One” is a fable, a fairy tale, a love story about two broken creatures who are made whole at last.

Meet the character blog hop

I’ve been tagged by Ofelia Grand to be part of the Meet the Character blog hop.

Ofelia Gränd is Swedish through and through. She is constantly thinking of stories she would love to write. Anything and everything is a source of inspiration that has her lost in thought, staring off into space, in no time at all. Sometimes she turns a street corner, and sees a different world. She is often walking around mumbling to herself and her intended characters. Every so often she is painting mental pictures of their appearances, or wishing that she was better at Photoshop, because she knows exactly what the cover of the story in her mind should look like. Real life, however, interferes all too often, and the stories mostly remains unwritten.

You can check out her website for more information on her writing.

In this post, I’m going to introduce you to one of my MCs, Dick, who’s the lead character in my upcoming novella, Christmas Commitment. Christmas Commitment will be released on November 21st as part of the LGBT holidays anthology Boughs of Evergreen, published by Beaten Track Publishing. Earnings from this anthology will be donated to charity, so be sure to keep an eye for it.

Who is Dick? What should we know about him?

Dick is the main character from Christmas Commitment. The story is written from his perspective. Dick also hates his name, so, from now on, we’ll be calling him D.

When and where is the story set?

Christmas Commitment is a contemporary story. I haven’t set it in any place in particular. I love leaving things ambiguous in terms of settings and let the readers place the action wherever they feel like. You might notice though that my European cultural background comes through at times. I can’t help it!

What is the main conflict? What messes up his life?

D. is afraid to come out of the closet as a gay man, especially with his parents, whom he doesn’t want to disappoint. This causes his boyfriend, Zack, to break up with him, right before Christmas because D. isn’t willing to introduce Zack to his family, like he’d promised.

What is D’my covers goal?

D is determined to get his lover back.

What is the problem?

The problem is that Zack doesn’t want to see D or talk to him. Will D manage to convince Zack that he’s serious about them?

When can we expect the story to be published?

Christmas Commitment will be published on November 21st by Beaten Track Publishing, both as an individual book and as part of the holiday anthology Boughs of Evergreen.

Who’s next on the blog hop?

This fantastic author will post next week about his own characters. Make sure to check his works out.
J.S. Frankel

J.S. Frankel was born in Toronto, Canada, many moons ago and managed to scrape through high school and university, earning a BA in English Literature and leaving no book unopened during his time at the University of Toronto. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Japan in order to teach English to the hapless residents of whichever city he happened to be living at the time.

In 1997, he married the charming Akiko Koike and their union produced two rather interesting children. Frankel and his family make their home in Osaka where he teaches during the day and attempts to write YA fiction at night.
Here is a list of authors who have already posted about their characters:

Ofelia Grand

Debbie McGowan

K.C. Faelan

Matthias Williamson
